About the International Conference at MRC Maribor

On October 6, 2022, the International Research Center of the Second World War (MRC Maribor) hosted the international conference "Victims of War and the Enduring Legacy of Tragic Stories".

The sixteenth conference, organized by MRC since its foundation in November 2017, continued the good tradition of holding commemorative events dedicated to key events, results and lessons of World War II, protecting and preserving the historical memory of the heroic deed of all those who died in the fight against fascism and Nazism.

The conference was attended by Russian Ambassador to Slovenia T.Eyvazov, Deputy Mayor of Maribor A.Iskra, Deputy of the National Assembly of Slovenia, historian M.Premk, Professor of History and Global Studies, Director of the Institute of Russian Language, History and Culture, Northern Vermont University (USA) A.Strokanov, Director of the Military Museum of Slovenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Z.Markovich, Young Researcher and PhD Candidate at Alma Mater Europea D.Siter, Researcher, Victory Museum A.Arsenev, ​​dr. I.Gorodnichiy, board member EPA, project manager, Eurasian Peoples' Assembly "Restoration and Preservation of the Memory of the victims of the Second World War, Slovenian experts on World War II", Russian compatriots, local residents.

The event confirmed the importance of continuing research work through the MRC Maribor and other organizations to convey to the general public the historical truth about the events of World War II, as well as joint efforts to counter any attempts to revive the Nazi ideology, which we are witnessing today.
